A Multifamily Historic Renovation | Asset Management
The historic building renovation for 1483 Newton Street NW in Washington, DC gave Commercial Building Consultants the opportunity to provide project oversight services. Site visits and management meetings were attended by Greg Trotter, President of Commercial Building Consultants, LLC for the $4 million renovation project. Periodic site visits were requested by the asset management company and CBC inspected all construction and renovations for the exterior and interior of the building which now leases studio, one, and two bedroom apartments.
This project is a prime example of a successful urban infill redevelopment. Blighted, vacant commercial buildings like 1483 Newton Street are transformed from uninhabitable structures to thriving communities with the assistance of Commercial Building Consultants, LLC.
CBC questioned compliance of window installations and maintained overall quality of construction during project oversight and frequent site visits. Construction schedules were met and budgetary items managed by Greg Trotter allowed the owners to achieve their goal of renovating an historic building and revitalizing the area.
The historic apartment building had limited issues, but there were a few unexpected challenges, such as a partial foundation replacement. CBC’s project oversight provided the owners with the third party opinion needed to seamlessly progress through a major renovation. New gas pipe lines were added to the building without any additional expense to the owners and Greg Trotter kept the project on schedule with minimal delay even after the unexpected utility work needed to be incorporated into the project’s timeline.
